RIVERTON BOROUGH POLICE DEPARTMENT

The members of the Riverton Police Department are committed to providing high quality law enforcement services to our residents, businesses and visitors.  Our first priority is to ensure the Borough of Riverton is safe at all times while utilizing the highest standards of law enforcement training and protocol.  We will ensure the people who visit and reside in our community feel safe and secure whether they are walking our streets, traveling our roadways, conducting daily business, or pursuing the many recreational opportunities within our historic community.

We are committed to community-oriented policing as well as safety and security in our schools.  We are dedicated to building and maintaining strong relationships with Riverton’s children and teenagers, and we will pursue this through our Adopt-a-Cop program, daily visitation to the Riverton Public School, and continued interaction with our youth during the course of our routine patrols. 

We encourage all of our residents to join us in our crime prevention efforts.  We want to be recognized as caring for those we serve and protect, while maintaining the confidence and respect of the community.  We strive to be compassionate and approachable while maintaining the highest degree of integrity in enforcing all Federal statutes, New Jersey State statutes, and Riverton Borough ordinances.

Riverton Borough Council recently adopted an Ordinance 2008-5, which provides standards and regulations for emergency alarm devices. You can access this ordinance in its entirety here:

To register your residential or business alarm, please click on the FORMS link on the left-hand side of this page and download the Alarm Registration form, which should be completed and returned to the Riverton Police Department. Forms can also be picked up at the Riverton Police Department.

Fingerprint Information

Effective March 15, 2008, the New Jersey State Bureau of Identification implemented the remaining phase of the Applicant Live Scan. This new procedure requires most people who need fingerprints to go to the New Jersey state contract vendor for this service - Sagem Morpho, Inc. Please click here to see more detailed instructions and links to required forms. Once on the page, scroll down to ”Instructions for Obtaining Your Criminal History Record.”

The Riverton Police Department takes fingerprints for Firearms applicants and miscellaneous other reasons not covered under the new state policy.

Juvenile Curfew Hours

The curfew runs from 10:00 PM through 6:00 AM Sunday-Thursday, and 11:00 PM through 6:00 AM Friday and Saturday for all juveniles under the age of 18
